No, the controllers can be purchased as an additional accessory.

Can I install the Platinum Electric heater myself?

No, the heater must be installed by a licensed technician.

What is radiant heat?

Radiant heat works like the sun. Instead of heating the air around you, it heats people and objects. This makes radiant heat a more effective outdoor heating source, as it is less likely to be affected by the wind.

Are the heaters waterproof?

Our Platinum Electric Marine heaters are made from premium 314 stainless steel and IPX5 rated, and therefore water-resistant (low pressure water jets). However, Bromic does recommend that they are best mounted under cover and not directly exposed to rain and salt mist to ensure they maintain their aesthetic appeal.

What mounting options are available?

The heaters can be either wall mounted, pole mounted or recessed into the ceiling. Each heater is supplied with an 8″ stainless steel pole. Recessing kits and longer poles for high ceilings can be ordered separately. Please refer to our instruction manual or contact our friendly design team to find out which installation and height is right for you.

Can Platinum Marine heaters be left on all night?

While Bromic’s Platinum Marine heaters are designed for extended outdoor use, it is generally not recommended to leave any outdoor heater on overnight for safety and energy efficiency. We recommend turning off the Platinum Marine heaters when not in use and following the installation manuals for safe operation and maintenance.

How hot do Platinum Marine heaters get?

How much heat Platinum Marine emit depends on a variety of factors including the wattage in use, mounting height, climate, space layout and more. For the most efficient heat coverage of your space, we recommend utilizing our Complimentary Design Service where one of Bromic’s heating experts will create a customized heating layout for your space.

How many Platinum Marine heaters do I need?

The number of Platinum Marine heaters needed depends entirely on the size and layout of the space, as well as the size and wattage of the heaters you are installing.

How much power does the Platinum Marine heater consume?

General FAQs

What’s better? Electric or Gas?

There are multiple benefits to each of these power sources. Ultimately, it’ll depend on the space that needs to be heated and what existing power sources are available.

What is radiant heat?

Radiant heat works like the sun. Instead of heating the air around you, it heats people and objects. This makes radiant heat a more effective heating source, as it is less likely to be affected by the wind.

Can the Bromic propane free-standing heaters be converted from propane to natural gas?

Yes. We do offer a conversion kit that allows the heater to be hooked up to a natural gas line.

What kind of gas tank can be used with the heater??

The Bromic Tungsten Portable can hold a standard 5 gallon propane tank or a 10 gallon propane tank.

What’s the difference between the Tungsten and Platinum collections?

There are a number of differences. First and foremost, they differ in their designs. While our Tungsten collection features a honeycomb mesh in front of the heat panels, our Platinum series is covered by a ceramic glass screen that is encased in a stainless-steel frame. The electric heaters in the collections also differ in the heat output. Our Tungsten series comes in 2000, 3000, 4000 and 6000W, while our Platinum Electric heaters are available in 2300 and 3400W.

Do the heaters come with a controller?

Besides the Eclipse Portable heater, the heaters do not come with a controller as everyone has different preferences when it comes to how they want to control their heater. Bromic offers a variety of controls options, which can be purchased as an additional accessory.

How can I control the heaters?

We offer various options to control your heater. Depending on the model, you can choose between simple on/off controls or dimmer controls (electric heaters only). We also offer a master remote to control groups of heaters.

Can the heaters be paired with automatic controls such as timers and thermostats?

Yes, this is possible via a home or building automation system. We offer the Bromic Smart-Heat Link, which can connect to a building automation system via RS232 plugin.

Can I use my home automation system with Bromic heaters?

Bromic outdoor heaters can be linked to any home automation device that offers a RS232 communication connection. Many home automation systems will offer a RS232 port either as standard or as a retrofit option.

What do I need to connect my Bromic outdoor heater to my home automation system?

You choose how you wish to control your heater. You can pair any combination and number of Bromic On/Off and/or Dimmer controls together with one Bromic Smart-Heat Link.

My heater shows signs of rust. Is this covered under the warranty?

While all our heaters have a corrosion-resistant base material or paint, it remains the owners responsibility to periodically clean the heaters to maintain the high level finish. We also recommend using our Platinum Marine heating series for coastal conditions which provides additional corrosion resistance.

Are Bromic Heaters weatherproof?

Bromic Heaters are weather resistant, but not water proof.  They can be exposed to the elements, but as with any outdoor product, the better the care, the longer the life.

Can I install the fixed mounted heaters myself?

No, all the fixed mounted heaters must be installed by a licensed technician.

How do I know if I need the 208V or 220-240V electric heater version?

In North America, the terms 220V, 230V, and 240V all refer to the same system voltage level. It’s primarily reserved for use in residential buildings and comes from a single phase system. A 240V service is accomplished by using two “hot” 120V standard lines. Most large electric appliances likes cook stoves, hot water heaters, and some other home appliances require this voltage. 208V, on the other hand, is from a 3 phase system and primarily found in commercial applications.

Affinity Controls FAQs

How to Use the New Bromic Heating App?

Bromic is excited to announce the new Affinity Collection of controls to their product line-up! Now, with the new Affinity Collection, you can easily control and monitor your heaters through Bromic’s dedicated app. This app brings you the power to manage your outdoor heating with the touch of a button, right from your smartphone. From basic On/Off and Dimming functionality, to state-of-the-art features, this guide will take you through everything you need to know to make the most of this technology, transforming your outdoor space into a cozy retreat.

Why Use the Bromic Heating App?

The Bromic Heating App isn’t just another gadget; it’s a gateway to enhancing your outdoor living experience. Imagine enjoying a perfectly heated patio during a cool evening without having to get up or fuss with complicated controls. With this app, you have the ability to:

  • Easily adjust the output of your heaters to match the changing weather or your personal comfort preferences.
  • Set a timer for maximum efficiency to ensure your heaters are only on when in use and not left on when not in use.
  • Group heaters by zone to control multiple units within differing locations (“zones’) simultaneously, perfect for larger outdoor spaces.
  • Set schedules and scenes that automatically turn on or off your heaters based on your lifestyle.

This kind of convenience and efficiency is more than just a luxury—it’s a smart way to ensure that your outdoor spaces are always ready for relaxation or entertainment, no matter the weather.

What You’ll Need to Prepare for Setup

Before you dive into using the app, make sure your Bromic heaters and controllers are installed and configured by a licensed electrical contractor. Once that’s set up, follow these simple steps to get your app up and running:

  • Locate the Serial Number on your controls box: You can find this on the sticker located on the side paneling of your control box.
  • Download the Bromic Heating App: Find it on the Apple Store or Google Play and install it on your smartphone or tablet. It is important to note that the Bromic Heating App is only applicable with our Affinity Collection of controls and not with any of Bromic’s Legacy Remote Controllers.
  • Turn on Bluetooth and Connect to the Internet: Ensure your device has both Bluetooth and an active internet connection. These are crucial for the initial setup and ongoing operation of the app. Initial configuration of the App to your controls box will need to be done within 30ft of the control box, via Bluetooth connection. Once you are set up, you can easily switch your connection to Wi-Fi if desired.
  • Decide which email address you will be creating an account with: You’ll need access to this email address to create an account and verify setup. This step ensures that your account is secure and ready to use.

Getting Started with the Bromic Heating App

This is where the magic happens! Once you’ve created an account and verified your email address, you’ll start by naming your site (e.g., “Outdoor Kitchen”, “Deck”, or “Garden Area”) and begin connecting your controllers.

  • Set Up Your Site: Select the controllers from the list that appears on your screen. Only those located within 30ft in discovery mode will be visible. If there are multiple controls on site, you can confirm that you are setting up the correct one by verifying the serial number in the App with the serial number on the controller box match one another.
  • Configure the Controller: Next, you will want to set up the channels of controllers. It is important to configure each channel of the controller, depending on how many channels your controller box has.
  • Manage Your Connections: You will be taken to a page to manage your controller’s connection. Your controllers are automatically connected via Bluetooth up until now. For more stable and flexible control, connect your controllers via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  • Complete Setup or Add Another Controller: Congrats! You have made it to the last step where you can now continue to add additional controller boxes or invite additional users if connected on Wi-Fi. In the case that you are done adding controller boxes, and do not wish to invite additional users, select “No, go to invite users”, then select “Skip and Complete Site Creation” on the next screen, then “Done”. Once you select “Done”, you’ll be redirected to the home screen and your heaters will be ready to control.
  • Invite Additional Users: Whether it be family members or guests who will need access to the heaters. The app makes this easy and secure:
    • Invite Users: As the admin user, you can invite others to use the app. Simply go to the settings, click “Manage Users,” and send an invitation via email.
    • Control Access: Not everyone needs full control. You can assign different roles to different users, ensuring that only those who need it can make changes to the heating settings. Of the two control access options to choose from, Admin or User, you can assign individuals different roles ensuring that only those who need it can make changes to the heating settings.

This feature is particularly useful if you have frequent guests or if you rent out your home as a vacation property. It allows you to maintain control while offering convenience to others.

By following these steps, you’ll have your Bromic Heating App ready to go in no time, giving you seamless control over your outdoor heating system.

Navigating the Bromic Heating App

Once your setup is complete, navigating the app becomes second nature. The user interface is designed to be intuitive, offering you easy access to all the features that make your outdoor space more enjoyable.

  • Home Screen: This is your command center. Here, you can see all connected appliances, zones, and scenes. Each heater is listed with a symbol indicating its connection type—Bluetooth, WiFi, or Ethernet—so you know exactly how it’s connected.
  • Appliances: In this section, you can turn on each heater with a simple toggle. If your heater has a dimming feature, you can adjust the heat level using a slider from 0% to 100%. For more detailed settings, like changing the appliance name or setting a timer, just click the arrow next to the heater’s name.
  • Zones: For those with multiple heaters, the Zone feature is a lifesaver. It allows you to group heaters together, so you can manage them all at once—whether you want to turn them all on, set a time, set them to the same heat level, or schedule them to switch off at a certain time.
  • Scenes: This feature is ideal for setting up a routine. Whether it’s turning on the heaters every evening or ensuring they switch off after a party, for residential applications or to turn all heaters off at the end of each service for commercial applications, you can schedule these actions in advance. The scene operation works on a 7-day schedule, giving you full control over your outdoor environment.

Enhancing Your Experience with Zones and Scenes

Let’s dive a bit deeper into Zones and Scenes, two of the app’s most powerful features.

  • Zones: Imagine having a large outdoor space with different sections—perhaps a dining area, a lounging space, and a poolside corner. With Zones, you can control each area separately or together. You might want the dining area warmer during dinner but keep the lounge area cooler until after. Zones make this possible with just a few taps.
  • Scenes: Think of Scenes as your personal heating butler. Hosting a Sunday brunch? Set a scene to warm up the patio just before your guests arrive. Planning a cozy evening with family? Another scene can ensure your heaters are on and set to the perfect temperature by the time you step outside.

These features are not just about control; they’re about creating an atmosphere. With the Bromic Heating App, you’re not just turning heaters on and off; you’re setting the mood, ensuring comfort, and enhancing the overall experience of your outdoor space.

While the Bromic Heating App is designed to be user-friendly, there might be times when you need a little help. Our website includes built-in troubleshooting and a detailed FAQ section that covers common issues. Additionally, customer support is always just a call or click away if you need further assistance.

I would like to switch heaters off after a time period?

  • This function is available in different settings. Firstly, when you turn on an appliance, you can also set a timer off interval. You set this each time the heater is turned on and it will then countdown to the interval duration and automatically switch the appliance off. Set this function by clicking the appliance name to go to the detailed screen and setting the timer off internal at the bottom of the screen.
  • Alternatively, you can set the timer off delay using schedules. This feature is only available to WiFi connected appliances.

Where do I find the serial number of the controller?

  • The serial number is represented as a 14 digit code (eg CONF2C23080005). The digits will be different for each type of controller. The serial number is printed on the product label attached to the controller. It can also be located via the menu on the Bromic Smat-Heat App, under Site configuration-> Edit Site. All the controllers will be listed and within each controller setting you can identify the connected heaters.

How do I setup my controller to work with Google Home or Alexa?

  • All Affinity controllers have the capability of working with Google Home or Alexa. (Unfortunately, we do not support Apple Home at this stage.)
  • Using the Bromic Smart-Heat App, follow the installation instructions and ensure it is configured to work in WiFi (or ethernet, if you have an expansion board fitted). Note voice control will not work with Bluetooth or BMS configured setups.
  • Once you have your heaters operating with the Bromic Smart-Heat App, go to your Google Home or Alexa App and setup a new device under “Bromic Smart-Heat.” Authorize the paring by logging into the Bromic Smart-Heat App and confirming the setup.
  • For more details, refer to the instruction manual and videos available from the Bromic website.

What is a site and how do I configure my heaters?

  • The Bromic Smart-Heat App will guide you through the installation process, step by step to configure each controller. Before you commence the installation, a little planning is required to define how to setup the heaters within the App. Sites are created to group heaters and separate site control. You can have all heaters on one site, accessible to all users or split the heaters into groups allocated to different sites. Sites function to separate user access if this is required by inviting users to each site independently (by the site admin user.)

How many heaters can I control with my App?

  • There is no limitation of the number of heaters configured to a site, or the number of sites a user has access to.

What is an Admin User and how do I invite my friends?

  • The Bromic Smart-Heat App assigns Users to sites and there are 2 types of User roles. Admin Users have complete access and control of the site setup. User roles are restricted to operational control of the appliances.
  • Both types of users are added to a site by invitation unless it is a new installation, the user that creates the site is automatically assigned as an Admin user. Admin users having complete control of the site setup are responsible for inviting other users. Go to Manage Users under the settings menu to invite new members by entering their name and email address. All members need to download the app, register, and confirm their invitation by email.

I have registered as a user but I cannot access the App?

  • When you create an account using your email address, the registration process requires the user to validate the invitation by confirming the email address. Log into the email account and search for the Bromic Smart-Heat registration invitation email. If this is not located in the inbox, check the spam or junk folder in case the email was caught by Spam filters.
  • If you have not received the email, register again using the same details.
  • Note if you mistyped the email address the invitation will not be sent to the correct email address. Simply register with the correct details.

The App reports the controller is not reachable. Why does this happen?

  • When a controller loses WiFi/Ethernet/Internet connection it will revert to a Bluetooth connection. However if the Bluetooth is out of range or the controller has been powered off, the App will report the controller as unreachable. In the situation this is not the case, the controller is unreachable if it is connected to another Bluetooth User.

When I toggle the button, the setting bounces back to its original state. Why does this happen?

  • The Bromic Smart-Heat system operates on a cloud service. This allows many users to control appliances on an array of sites. As there can be many users connected to the one site, it is possible that heaters are being controlled by other users at the same time. Another reason for the button bounce phenomena is due to connection latency. This is the time delay of the data sent to the server and response back. The cloud server is responsible to synchronize the control settings with all users connected to site. If the server detects the control settings do not match with the last received command, it will issue a restore command to sync the control settings. The button bounce phenomena will occur at times and in almost all cases the correct setting is restored within 1-2 seconds.

Where do I find the App version number?

  • The App version can be found by accessing the AppStore or Google Play.

Is the App available in other languages?

  • Yes. The language set on the App is based on the Smartphone or Tablet region setting. Change the region setting to another language and the App will update. Languages currently available include German, Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch, Japanese.

How do I delete the Controller?

  • Deleting the controller will remove the device from site and restore the configuration to factory default settings. This action can only be performed by Admin Users. Under the Bromic Smart-Heat App menu, go to Site Configuration, Edit Site, select the controller and press the Delete button at the bottom of the screen.

How do I rename my heaters?

  • The heater names can be changed within the App from the appliance screen. Go to the home screen where the heaters are listed under appliances, click the heater name to jump to the detailed screen and press on the pencil icon at the top right of the page to change the name.

Can I re-sort the heaters as they appear on the screen?

  • From the home screen where the heaters are listed under appliance, scroll to the bottom and click the re-arrange button. Press, hold and drag each heater to the order desired. Save when complete.

I forgot to turn my heaters off and no one is at home?

  • A key feature of the Bromic Smart-Heat App is remote access and control. This is available for controllers configured to operate on an internet connection such as Wifi or Ethernet. Simply open the Bromic Smart-Heat App and turn off the heaters from the appliance menu.
  • If you cannot access the controller, the safety cut off timer will activate after the predefined countdown. This is set by default as 4hours and can be changed by the Admin User.

How do I know if my Appliances are connected to WiFi?

  • There is a connection icon next to the heater name. This icon will change depending on the connection status of the heater.

Why does my Appliance switch from WiFi to Bluetooth or between other connection methods?

  • The Affinity Smart-Heat controllers have the ability to switch connection method depending on the status of the connection. If the internet, ethernet or WiFI connection is lost, the controller will switch to other available connections and if no other connections are configured, then will default to Bluetooth connection. This ensures that the heaters can be operated at all times. Connection will restore back to the WiFi or Ethernet configuration once it is up.

What does the warning message “Controller is unreachable through Bluetooth” mean?

  • The controller is currently operating on a Bluetooth connection and it is not accessible due to one of the following reasons:
  1. The controller is out of range from the Smart device connecting to it.
  2. The controller is currently connected and working with another Bluetooth device.
  • All heaters connected to this controller will display the warning message.

What does the warning message “Controller is currently offline” mean?

  • The controller is currently powered off and cannot be accessed. All heaters connected to this controller will display the warning message.

Why can’t I setup all heaters on a single Zone?

  • Zones are used for controlling multiple heaters with common functions. Zones allow heaters to turn on, set all heaters to dimming level of 50%, or set lighting output to any level. It is only possible to setup zones for same type of heating appliances.

Why do my heaters which off automatically after 4hours?

  • Each controller has a default 4hr timer off countdown. When the controller is operating on Bluetooth and connection has been idle for 4hrs, the heaters for this specific controller will switch off. This interval setting can be changed to 2, 4, 6, 8 or 12 hours or disabled. Each controller has its own individual settings. To change this, go to the site configuration menu, edit site, select the controller, click the controller name to go to the detailed page. At the bottom there will be a dropdown list to change the value. It is recommended to not disable this setting.
